New rant online, about the difference
between nationalism and patriotism.
2003-04-23:
I'm alive!
It's been a while since I've made any changes to my website
(yes, the year gap in the news dates is not a mistake). A lot has happened
in the last year, some good, some bad, most of it making it difficult for me
to regularly edit my site, due to lack of easy access or just plain lack of
time. However, I haven't been entirely inactive over the last year, and it
is my intent to spend some time over the next few weeks adding some of the
stuff I've been writing offline or in other forums.
Last April I redesigned the site to allow for the expansion
of some sections, then never got around to expanding them. Today I'm
picking up where I left off, with the expansion of the About section. More
to come soon...
2002-04-21:
Minor updates to the website today. I was sitting at a
command prompt on a machine without XFree86, and I figured, "Hey, why not
see what my site looks like with Lynx?" It turns out there were a number of
small glitches, which are now fixed. Making your website Lynx-friendly is
just "The Right Thing To Do™", and Lynx will reveal some HTML errors
that other browsers miss, so it's worthwhile to check your site with
Lynx.

WARNING TO DOMAIN NAME OWNERS: I've just received an
interesting "Expiration Notice" on my domain name from VeriSign. Thing is,
VeriSign is not my registrar! If you read the fine print on the "Renewal
Form", you see you're authorizing a transfer. This is what's known as
"slamming", fraudulently getting customers to change service providers when
they didn't really want to. If you own a domain name, beware. Also, be
aware that VeriSign, despite their motto "The Value of Trust", is just about
the slimiest sleezeball outfit on the Internet. 'nuf said.

Version 4 of Dreamsmith's Forge is now online! Featuring
all new eye-candy! Weeee!
Seriously, if you've visited before, you may have noticed
this is a new interface. As well as being more visually appealing, the
addition of a secondary navigational tool (to the left) should make
navigating the site easier, plus the site now adjusts to the size of your
browser window. Also, in recent weeks I've been planing some additional
sections, and there was really no place to put them under the old design.
Something needed to be done to allow for further expansion. The extra
navigation area will allow me to subdivide some old sections. The eye-candy
is just an added benefit.
Hopefully everything works. This is my first completely
original design. Version 3 was
completely my own graphics work, but the basic design/layout was identical
to version 2, which was a design
from Moyra's Web Jewels (a great web design site that is, alas, no longer
with us). Version 1 was just embarassing (look for it soon in the upcoming
"History of the site" section under "About").
2002-04-12:
I'm going to be tinkering with the system over the weekend
as I roll over the website to a new look. Some pages may not load properly
while I'm doing this, so if anything looks messed up, just wait a few hours
and it should be working again.
2002-03-26:
Thanks to Sannion's Sancturary for
making this site its highlighted link this week! Sannion is one of the
members of the HellenicPagan mailing list, who, like me, enjoys a good rant
from time to time. Good stuff, check it out...
2002-02-09:
Out of Phase added
to Fiction, although it is not itself a work of
fiction, but rather a commentary on The Call
of Speed, a story in that section.
2002-02-06:
Pagan Philosophy added
to Rings. This webring has been without a ringmaster
for a long time (over a year, I believe). In any case, I have taken on the
job as the new ringmaster. If you run a website that you think would fit in,
please feel free to join our merry little ring!
21st Century
Spirits also added to Rings. This is a brand new
webring, dedicated to putting the neo back into neopaganism. We'll
see how this goes...
2002-02-05:
Genetic Engineering: The Real
Danger added to Rants. This article was actually
written the Sunday before last Samhain, but it's taken me a while to get it
online. My life has been extremely busy for the last three months, so I've
been getting behind on updating my websites -- I'll hopefully find some more
time this week to get things updated. In any case, I'm going to stop now
before this turns into a blog entry. I am not a blogger... :)
2001-11-20:
Everything is back online! (Woohoo!) The previous news
item was lost during the transfer back to this server, but during the last
week of October, our internet connection went down, and I had to transfer
the site to the webserver at work. During that time, none of the
interactive items on the site worked (guestbook, CGI, etc.) due to processor
and operating system differences. But now that we're back running on my
trusty SPARCstation, everything should be back to normal. And I have a
few new items to put online over the next few days...
2001-10-11:
Squaura Reading added
to Spirituality.
2001-10-04:
I found another use for my new guestbook program: Random
Acts of Poetry has been added to the Poetics
section of this site. I'll be sumbitting my own short poems (Haiku, mostly)
to the page from time to time, and guests are encouraged to submit stuff as
well. Enjoy!
2001-10-04:
It has come to my attention that my local subnet has a
malfunctioning switch. This causes a connectivity loss for all the servers
on this subnet for about 8 hours this morning until I reset the switch. I
will be replacing it in the near future.
2001-10-01:
This site now has a guestbook.
I'll be posting the source code soon...
2001-09-28:
The Haiku Moment added
to Poetics.
2001-09-27:
My recent rant on Terrorism and Religion is currently being
featured on Gothgeeks.org. It's an
interesting site with an eclectic mix of reporting, editorializing, and
poetry. Definately worth a look-see.
2001-09-22:
Terrorism and Religion
added to my Rants.
2001-08-18:
LogJack, Code Red Special
Edition added to Software. Visit my Code Red page for examples of its use.
2001-08-17:
I've added a new section devoted to
the Code Red worm and its relatives. The constant attacks against my
webservers both at work and here at home are starting to annoy me.
What's worse is when the attacks come from "professional" webservers. In an
effort to strike back at the snake-oil merchants selling "professional"
Internet services that are nothing of the sort, I'm starting the Code Red Hall of Shame.
The statistics are being generated by a modified version of
my LogJack software. I'll be posting LogJack: Code
Red Special Edition this weekend for all to download. Start your own Hall
of Shame! I also have a new version of the standard edition of LogJack that
will be posted at the same time...
2001-07-26:
The domains serviced by this server (dreamsmith.org,
scsupagans.org, and orendanorth.org) were offline for 22.5 hours (from
noon on the 25th to 10:30am on the 26th) due to power supply issues, so
if you tried to hit us in the last day and couldn't connect, that was
why. My apologies. Also, my apologies for the lack of recent updates --
work has been extremely busy lately. I have a lot of updates I've not
gotten around to posting yet, but should hopefully get online in the
first couple weeks of August...
2001-06-23:
Counterpoint: Traditional
Paganism added to Rants.
2001-06-17:
Showdown on New Haven (Part IV)
added to The Assassin Chronicles (under Fiction).
2001-06-14:

new features).
2001-06-05:
Admin's Blues
added to Poetics.
2001-05-31:
Pushing the Envelope: Eulogizing Icarus
added to Rants.
2001-05-28:
New site design! I finally got tired of Moyra's OP-ulent Greys, and decided to
roll my own graphics. I call this theme Marble, for obvious reasons.
My thanks to The GIMP and it's developers
for the excellent program I used to do this. Also, my final thanks to Moyra's Web Jewels; I still
wholeheartedly recommend this site to anyone who doesn't have the time to
roll their own graphics. Other changes include a new Home
page (the News page used to serve this function, but
it's getting too big), and Rings has been spun off
from Links.
2001-05-24:
Showdown on New Haven (Part III)
added to The Assassin Chronicles (under Fiction).
2001-05-19:
Showdown on New Haven (Part I)
and (Part II) added to The Assassin Chronicles (under Fiction).
2001-05-17:
Qtarot updated to version 0.25, with two new
decks! Oh, and some bug fixes and improvements.
2001-05-12:
Finals are over! School is
out for the summer! There's a bunch of stuff I need to update on this
website, but I've been too busy to get to it. Now, hopefully, I'll have
some more time...
2001-04-22:
LogJack added to Software.
2001-04-18:
Qtarot updated to version 0.02, screenshots added.
2001-04-13:

[Originally published on Themestream.]
2001-04-12:
Prelude to a Storm added to
Storms (under Fiction).
[Not a Themestream article, just something I hadn't gotten
around to posting yet.]
2001-04-11:
I finally get around to adding Themestream to my links page, and the day
I do so, the site announces it's officially closing its doors! Oh
well, perhaps it's for the best, I've been ignoring this site for a
while. I'll be moving my Themestream content to this site over the
next few days.
2001-01-05:
GT (bio) section is now up -- no longer are there any

be fleshed out some more.)

If you do your own web pages and haven't visited this site, do so
now! It's pretty cool...
